Personalized, Innovative, Compassionate Care

ABOUT DR. ZHU

My connection with sports medicine began in childhood - as a baseball and tennis player as well as a sports fan, I have firsthand experience with the impact of athletic injuries.

As an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, I have the opportunity to educate and guide patients throughout the course of their treatment and recovery.

As an engineer by training, I want to offer my patients the most effective, innovative, and efficient treatments to help them overcome their injuries.

My mission is to develop a relationship with patients in order to understand their goals and expectations, then work with them to create a plan that can best help them achieve those goals and return to the activities they love to do.

Helping Athletes of All Levels
Get Back to Their Game

Throughout my career, I have cared for athletes of all levels - from weekend warriors, to college student-athletes, to NBA All-Stars - and the most exciting part of my job is seeing these motivated patients back in action.

I understand the importance of getting to know patients' goals and timelines so we discuss and develop a recovery plan. I also recognize the impact of an injury falls not only on the patient, but also on all those invested in their well-being, from families to coaches to therapists, and understand the importance of clear communication of expectations with everyone involved.

Getting an athlete back to their game is much more than just making a diagnosis - my goal is to work with patients to create an individualized, comprehensive plan to guide them from injury, to treatment, to recovery.

Meet Our Team

Kaitlyn Juilfs, NP

Orthopedic and sports medicine are my passion. With six years of adult and pediatric orthopedic surgery experience in the St. Louis-area, I am eager to continue providing care to patients in the Metro East.

As a Maryville, IL native, I have seen first-hand the challenges that come with seeking quality care on this side of the river, and I take pride in providing elite care close to home. No stranger to high impact sports, my experience as a former cheerleader, and now, an avid gardener and skier, has given me a keen perspective to the stresses that our bones and joints endure.

My goal is to use my personal experiences and knowledge to educate and treat patients in a way that helps them heal, achieves their goals, and ensures a robust quality of life.

With a background in psychology, I gain a profound understanding of each patient, considering not only their physical health but also their psychological and environmental factors.

My goal is to empower patients through education and to work collaboratively with them to achieve optimal health. I firmly believe that there is no greater purpose in life than to provide hope, healing and compassion to those in need.
